| Where We Work |
ITI works in countries where the World Health Organization (WHO) has documented widespread trachoma.
Building on the success of Morocco, ITI currently supports trachoma control programs in 18 countries, including: Burkina Faso, Eritrea, Ethiopia, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Mali, Mauritania, Nepal, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, and Vietnam. Morocco reached the WHO's ultimate intervention goals for the elimination of trachoma and is currently in the surveillance phase in order to obtain certification from the WHO indicating that trachoma is no longer a public health threat there. Four more countries are on track to reach their goal of elimination of blinding trachoma by the year 2010. They include The Gambia, Ghana, Mauritania and Vietnam.
