Telly Antandou, M.D., Mali Country Representative
Dr. Telly Antandou has overseen all aspects of ITI’s work in Mali for six years.  He has built strong partnerships with national government agencies as well as international and indigenous NGOs to assist in fulfilling the trachoma control objectives for Mali.  Under Dr. Antandou’s leadership, ITI is participating in the USAID-funded Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) program which has helped train 670 health workers and more than 15,000 community drug distributors on trachoma treatment and drug logistics.  He has also managed the administration of Pfizer-donated Zithromax so that nearly 1.8 million Malians have received the antibiotic to treat trachoma.

Prior to joining ITI, Dr. Antandou was a coordinator for the Micronutrient Initiative to fight anemia in over 100 villages in Mali. He also worked on the child survival project for the International Islamic African Relief Agency and has participated in numerous seminars and conferences on public health issues throughout Mali. Dr. Antandou speaks French, English and three Malian dialects. He received his doctorate in medicine from the l’Ecole Nationale de Médecine et de Pharmacie in Mali and a degree in Biology from the Lycée franco-arabe de Tombouctou.  He also has attended the l’Universite de Liege en Belgique and received certificates in social communications and ophthalmology in public health.
